Room Mock-Up Makeover - The Bright Cloud Colour Challenge
I challenged the social media world to send me a picture of a drab colored room that needed a facelift. The challenge was finding the room’s potential without having to replace permanent and big budge items like backsplash, tile, countertops, pink showers, etc. I truly believe that every space has potential with the right combination of paint colors and accessories.
Here was my first Colour Challenge:
Here is Hannah’s BEAUTIFUL pink/lavender/lilac bathroom. She hates it, but knew it had potential! So I took her photos to photoshopped, made a few edits to remove some items in the space, then came up with two looks.
Option 1: Lavender Farm
If you are looking for colors that go together, look at nature! I love the green color of Lavender stems. It’s not too pastel so that it doesn’t look like Easter when combined with purple. Black and white are always modern and since the bath, toilet and sink are cream, it’s different enough (doesn’t look like a poor match).
Next, the shelf hardware and any other hardware (like towel hooks and racks), can easily be spray painted black. Then the vanity painted a dark charcoal color to just let the purple countertop be purple!
Lastly, accessories. Hide everyday items in cute baskets, jars, boxes, ceramic pots etc. If you hate your bathroom floor, cover most of it with an awesome bath mat (a neutral mat for a patterned floor, or a patterned mat for a neutral floor). Then try to match towels and the shower curtain.
Option 2: Sunny Vineyard
This option is packed with color! Purple and Yellow are complementary colors. Which mean they look AWESOME together. This palette includes a few shades of both colors to embrace the purple.
The purple arch behind the mirror adds some detail to the mirror. Any hardware that can be painted, would be painted gold and matched with a few mustard yellow/ore accessories.
Fresh paint and purposeful décor goes a long long way!
